U-tad to Train Future Digital Professionals With Blackboard Learn Ultra
University will implement the next-generation Learning Management System in its cutting-edge campus in Madrid

LONDON, 06 June, 2019 – Blackboard today announced that U-tad, the first private European university focused purely on digital arts and technology, will implement the Ultra experience of Blackboard Learn, its flagship Learning Management System (LMS), to create a more engaging experience for students and enhance academic effectiveness. U-tad selected Blackboard Learn Ultra over competing solutions for the streamlined workflows, the superior usability and the enhanced student-teacher interaction features available within the system.

U-tad is at the forefront of teaching and development in technology and digital arts, including videogames, animation, software engineeringand digital design, by promoting a learning-by-doing approach with students working on real projects. To this end, the institution provides an educational environment equipped with the same highly advanced technology used by the world’s major digital production companies, enabling students to access more than 400 software systems delivered on the cloud.

After having successfully leveraged the managed-hosted deployment of Blackboard Learn for more than five years, U-tad leadership decided to transition to a cloud-based LMS and leverage all the benefits of a SaaS deployment, including quicker delivery of features and enhancements, and zero downtime updates. Following rigorous evaluation of competing solutions, Blackboard Learn Ultra emerged as the best LMS to meet U-tad’s requirements and address the need of its students. Blackboard Learn Ultra is based on a modern, mobile-first design, featuring simplified navigation, powerful functionality and improved accessibility. It also empowers students and teachers with personalised information and actionable insights right on their screens.

“We are training the future leaders of the digital world and it’s imperative we implement the best solutions,” said María del Pilar Lopez Frutos, responsible for e-learning at U-tad. “Blackboard Learn Ultra will provide our students a seamless and engaging learning experience, helping them achieve better results. Learn Ultra will also ensure a higher level of interaction between students and teachers, which is key for our pedagogical approach based on individual student-teacher relationships.”

“U-tad students live and breathe technology, and they expect their LMS to be on par with the other cutting-edge solutions they use,” said Oleg Figlin, Vice President Europe at Blackboard. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with U-tad and empowering learners with flexible and easy to use tools that will make learning more rewarding.”
